The Association of Online Workers has announced that, as they have asked, a work group which will prepare a proposition for the regulation of the status of freelancers will soon be formed, Tanjug reports.

According to their press release, they were notified of this by the Ministry for Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy, and the ministry’s decision says that the work group “will prepare propositions which regulate the status of natural persons who are hired by foreign employers which do not have a registered activity in the territory in Serbia and self-employed persons who work through platforms”.

By December 31, the work group should consider a legal framework regarding the rights and obligations of freelancers and prepare the proposals which regulate their status, says the ministry’s decision.

The freelancers’ association expects the work group to be formed and to start working as soon as possible and believes that the decision that has been announced for January 1, which entails normed expenses of RSD 18,300 a month, with a total amount of taxes and contributions of 55.8%, has to be changed, due to which, they say, they will mark that issue as the priority at the very first session of the work group.
