The factory for the processing of waste belonging to the Swiss company Yunirisk in Barajevo has started operating, employing 80 people, it was announced.

At the factory, in the location of the former IKL, in which over EUR 5 million was invested, waste will be processed in line with all the regulations on environmental protection and based on the technology that is recognized in Europe, says the press release by Yunirisk.

The company is in the business of taking care of hazardous and non-hazardous waste by using patented technology by which hazardous industrial waste is turned, in a fully safe and secure way, into a non-hazardous material which has use value and is used in the construction industry for the production of cement.

The factory was visited by the ambassador of Switzerland to Serbia, Urs Schmid, who stated that it was one of the most important Swiss investments in Serbia, with the potential for solving a large number of important ecological challenges.

– I am convinced that it will contribute to bringing Serbia closer to European standards in environmental protection and the principles of circular economy. I am very glad that the company Yunirisk has the opportunity to implement new technologies and employ qualified work force – Schmid said.

Vladimir Matovic, General Manager at Yunirisk, said that, in the next phases, the installation of the production line for the production of concrete elements was planned, whereby the entire production cycle will be rounded up.

He emphasized that the factory used a closed production line which doesn’t generate gases and waste technological water, so there’s no negative environmental impact.

– Using the waste for whose treatment we have a permit, and which is generated by all the biggest companies in the market of Serbia, we are making an entirely non-hazardous material which is used in the production of cement, from which, by the way, a large number of houses throughout Serbia, Barajevo included, are made – Matovic pointed out.
