EPS and EPCG: Realization of HPP Komarnica Project Worth EUR 265 Million to Begin

The beginning of the realization of the project of the Hydro Power Plant Komarnica, which is to be built as a cooperation between the power companies of Serbia and Montenegro, EPS and EPCG, is very close, it was announced today at the meeting between the acting director of EPS, Milorad Grcic, and the director of EPCG, Milutin Djukanovic.

Grcic reminded that the HPP Komarnica was first discussed in 1972 and that there had been intensive efforts toward preparing the feasibility study and the preliminary project for 2.5 years.

– This is a very important project for Serbia, and the beginning of the realization of this project is possible, realistic and very close – Grcic said.

He added that, in 2018, the Komarnica project was effectively re-launched and pointed out that it was very important and that it fit into the goal of EPS to increase the installed green energy production capacities.

The HPP Komarnica will have 155 MW of installed power, and the expected price is around EUR 265 million, he said and added that 51% would be financed from Montenegro, whereas the rest would be financed from Serbia. He also said that the power plant would be located in the territory of Montenegro.
