New Flotation at Veliki Krivelj Mine to Increase Dry Ore Processing to 23.1 Million Tons – Zijin Files Request for Project’s Environmental Impact Assessment

The Ministry of Environmental Protection has notified the public that Serbia Zijin Copper d.o.o. Bor has filed a request for deliberating on the need for an environmental impact assessment of the Project of increasing the capacities of the flotation processing of dry ore to 23.1 million tons a year from the open-pit mine Veliki Krivelj.

As announced earlier, around 30% of the works on the construction of a new flotation at Veliki Krivelj were carried out by April 2021, and the value of the investment is USD 57.8 million.

According to the project, the new flotation at Veliki Krivelj is to be done with a capacity of 13.2 Mt, parallel and independent from the existing one, whose capacity is 9.9 Mt of dry ore.


The new flotation will be built close to the existing one, east of the flotation, beneath the existing copper filtering location. The total area of the industrial zone will amount to around 2,266 m2.
