Increase in Public Sector Salaries by 7.3% on Average

He explained on TV Prva that a wage raise of 7% was planned for employees in the public sector, whereas employees in welfare services, healthcare institutions and the military would get a raise of 8%, and emphasized that there was enough money in the budget for it, as announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Finance and the Government of Serbia projected and implemented an absolutely sustainable salary increase, looking to secure a permanents and stable salary increase.
The state is oriented toward increasing the living standard and raising salaries and pensions permanently, said the state secretary and added that the state also took care to employ new workers and that an increase in the number of employees in healthcare, science and education was planned for the next year.
Regarding the increase of the minimum wage for 2022, Stevanovic estimated that the employers, the unions and the state worked toward the same goal during the negotiations that took place in August and September.
According to him, the state aims to equalize the minimal consumer basket with the minimum wage soon, and the coverage of the consumer basket with the minimum wage is currently over 80%.
The state secretary also said that the salaries had also been growing in the private sector in the preceding few years, above 7% on average and much more quickly than the inflation.
