Montenegro Plans 117 New Projects Worth Around EUR 549 Million for Next Year

According to the draft budget of Montenegro for next year, made by the Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare, a capital budget which is 108% higher compared to this year’s is planned, excluding the planned financing of the completion of the highway, the Mina-Business agency learns at the government.

The draft budget is subject to approval by the competent committees and the government.

It is likely that the capital budget for next year is higher with the continuation of the financing of the first section of the highway as well.

The biggest investments are planned in northern Montenegro.

According to unofficial findings, the capital budget contains 117 new projects, whose total value is around EUR 549 million.

Also, the capital budget envisages the financing of all the initiated projects and the completion of the works on the highway.

The plan includes the construction and reconstruction of healthcare facilities, the financing of the first section of the highway, the reconstruction of regional and main roads, the construction of local infrastructure and the upgrade of the tourist offer.

The draft budget envisages for next year’s capital budget to be 150% higher compared to last year’s one, excluding the costs of the highway, and 78% higher compared to 2019.


Through the draft budget of Montenegro for next year, which is announced as reform-oriented, developmental and just, the program of reforms Europe Now is implemented.

This program, among other things, brings an increase of the minimum wage from 250 to 450 euros, an average net salary of EUR 700, the removal of healthcare contributions and a more just taxation.

Labor charges are reduced for the economy, due to which the salaries in the public and private sectors should grow by over 17% on average.
