Two million euros for better heating in Leskovac
(Leskovac)
Leskovac Mayor Slobodan Kocic assessed that the "Rehabilitation of Remote Heating System in Serbia - Phase 4" programme, financed by German Development Bank KfW, was very important for Leskovac, even more because the city was placed in the authorized group of self-government units that would get non-refundable funds.
- Within the scope of this programme, Leskovac will get about EUR 2m worth of non-refundable funds to replace two boilers in Crvena Zvezda boiler room and start using crude oil and gas instead of coal - Kocic explained and complimented the engagement of the management of public company Toplana.
- Preparation of the project documentation for reconstruction of the heating plant and the replacement of about 700 meters of hot water pipeline and a large number of substations in the city in 2009 were financed by German Organization for Technical Assistance and Cooperation GTZ with about RSD 1m, which was the precondition for reconstruction of the biggest boiler room in the city, covering more than half of the users - Kocic pointed out.
He underlined that, by implementing that project, the city was practically getting ready for the fact that Nis-Leskovac gas pipeline would be finished in spring and that Toplana would then be able to use gas as a cheaper and cleaner fuel.
Toplana CEO Miomir Jovanovic explained that the replacement of two boilers would increase the energy power and that heat regulators would be installed on substations to harmonize the heating with the outdoor temperature.
- We will also have calorimeters installed and, thus, create conditions for charging the heating services according to consumption - said Jovanovic.
He emphasized that intensive works on the overhaul of machines in Toplana were underway and that the heating would start on time.
- Coal has already been delivered and we expect to receive crude oil by the end of the month. That means that we are ready for the new heating season - said Jovanovic.
