Construction companies invited to work on renovation of clinical centers in Serbia

Serbian Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic said yesterday that the project for reconstruction of clinical centers in Serbia would be implemented within the next two years and announced that an invitation for the construction companies would be announced today in the Official Bulletin.

During the tour of the Cardiovascular Clinic and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic in Nis, Milosavljevic pointed out that the value of the preparation works for the construction and reconstruction of the Clinical Center in Nis and the Clinical Center in Belgrade amounted to 800,000 euros and approximately 2 million euros, respectively.

He specified that the project for reconstruction of clinical centers was worth 200 million euros, 30m of which would be invested in Nis, 35m in Novi Sad, 26m in Kragujevac, and 103m in Belgrade.

The Minister reminded that the works would be financed from the favorable loan granted by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and noted that the works were planned to be finished before the end of 2012.

The first heart surgeries will be performed in Nis before the end of the year, Milosavljevic pointed out and added that the Ministry of Health had earmarked 190 million dinars in the NIP's funds for the construction and reconstruction of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic in Nis in 2010.

According to his words, the Ministry has invested 53 million dinars in the construction of the Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic in Nis. Nis-based Art Foundation has also taken part in the project by decorating the space of the clinic with paintings.

The Minister also said that the vaccination against the AH1N1 virus had started and that it was especially recommended for pregnant women and obese persons.

In the last season, as he explained, ten pregnant women died of the consequences of that virus.

- The health system at this moment has 600,000 vaccines and each citizen should consider and decide if he or she wants to be vaccinated or not - the Minister explained and announced that the vaccination against the seasonal flu would also commence soon.
