MK Group Invests Over EUR 27 Million in Reconstruction of Hotel Grand Kopaonik

With a capital investment of over EUR 27 million, MK Group has successfully completed the reconstruction of Hotel Grand Kopaonik. This luxury hotel, which is recognized by the public as a symbol of the most popular mountain in the region, was opened at an official ceremony in the presence of numerous attendees from the business life and the public life.

– In the year in which we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of Hotel Grand, we decided to carry out a big reconstruction on 6,100 m2 within the hotel itself, to invest considerable funds in the construction of a new residential wing and to build a modern garage which fulfills the needs of our guests. With this investment, we exceeded EUR 100 million in overall capital investments on Kopaonik, since 2009, since which we have been operating on this mountain – Aleksandar Kostic, Vice-President of MK Group stated on the occasion of the official opening.



The works on upgrading the features and the hotel service began in April this year. In addition to building a new Residence block and garage with over 130 parking spaces, the spa center, all restaurants and bars, the reception hall and the sports courts were all completely renovated.

– In a short period of only seven months, investments of 20,000 m2 in the hotel were realized, in addition to the other investments on Kopaonik which spread on another 18,000 m2. Over 500 workers, who worked on three parallel construction sites, participated in the construction of the new wing and the reconstruction of the facility. The successfully completed reconstruction has enabled Hotel Grand to once again raise the bar for luxury hotel business with its new edition – stated Aleksandra Stojanovic, Investment Project Manager and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of MK Group.

With big investments, MK Group is strengthening the economy and the tourism of Serbia, while also creating added value for the Kopaonik area, estimated Marko Cadez, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS) at the ceremony on the occasion of the completion of the reconstruction of Hotel Grand.

– This complex, which MK Group runs, contributes to the increase of employment and the improvement of the living standard of many families, the hiring of other companies, the strengthening of the sectors of the economy related to the business operations of this center, from the furniture industry, to food and drinks. Hotel Grand Kopaonik is the oldest hotel complex on this mountain and a pioneer of modern tourism in Serbia. As one of the most valuable legacies of the local hotel business, with this investment, it got an even more attractive look and confirmed its prestigious status in the year when it is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
