The Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Tomislav Momirovic, announced the beginning of the construction of the southern bypass around that city, at a meeting with Valjevo city administration yesterday.

Momirovic pointed out that nearly EUR 160m will be invested in the Lajkovac-Iverak motorway towards Valjevo, according to the website of the Government of Serbia.

The construction of the bypass around Valjevo in the length of approximately five kilometers is planned in two phases. The first part, in the length of about 2.2 kilometers, envisages a loop at the connection with the future Lajkovac-Iverak motorway, and the second part includes the bypass in the length of about 2.8 kilometers, with planned regulation of the Kolubara river.

Works on the construction of the Iverak-Lajkovac motorway are in progress, and the length of this section is 18.3 kilometers, with two lanes in each direction, and it is designed for a speed of up to 100 kilometers per hour.

It will connect Valjevo with the "Milos Veliki" highway (E-763), as well as Republika Srpska, i.e. Bosnia-Herzegovina, with the "Milos Veliki" highway and further, via Corridor 10, with Bulgaria and Greece.
