The first phase of the reconstruction and construction of the Clinical Center of Serbia was completed and opened yesterday. EUR 260 million was invested in this medical institution on 86,000 m2, with latest-generation equipment, as announced on the website of the President of Serbia.

The building now has a room for “robotic surgery”, featuring one of the most modern X-ray devices, as well as an intensive care space with a total of 231 beds, the announcement says.

It is added that the entire project was paid from the budget, except for a small part that was financed from a loan.

– This will mean a lot to all patients from Serbia, not just Belgrade – said the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, while visiting the building, adding that 400 new doctors would be employed at the new health institution.

The new building of the Clinical Center of Serbia will have a total of 825 hospital beds, and it has been announced that the first patients will be welcomed in seven days.

According to the director of the University Clinical Center of Serbia, Milika Asanin, the new building of the Clinical Center on 12 floors will also have 34 operating rooms, eight angiography rooms, three MR rooms, six scanners and 12 X-ray cabinets.


– We are also waiting for a PET scanner, and there’s also the fully renovated nuclear medicine department – Asanin said for RTS.

According to the announcement, the Emergency Center, a part of the surgical department, plastic surgery, endocrinology surgery, neurology, hematology, gastroenterology, orthopedy and cardiac surgery will be moved to the new building.
