AIK Banka has obtained approval from the National Bank of Serbia and the competent regulatory bodies, whereby it has met all the requirements for the acquisition of ownership over Sberbank Srbija. This way, AIK Banka will increase its market share in Serbia to as much as 9% and, with the value of its new balance assets, become one of the most important banks in the country, says the announcement made by AIK Banka.

With the successful completion of the process which was initiated last year, AIK Banka will increase its client base by over 180,000 retail and corporate clients, whereas the overall assets of the banking group will increase by EUR 1.7 billion.

The chairwoman of the Executive Board of AIK Banka, Jelena Galic, pointed out that the assets would increase to nearly 4 billion, with a market share of 9%, whereby AIK Banka, as the backbone of the banking group, will become the sixth biggest bank in the Serbian banking market.

– By strengthening the market position, we are a step closer to realizing the strategic goal of positioning ourselves as one of the leading banking groups in the region. The expansion of the operations will certainly bring numerous benefits to our clients too, combining the expertise and the technologies of both banks, whereby the quality of the provided service will be at the highest level. AIK Banka remains dedicated to the further development to the end of providing the best user experience to our existing and new clients, which will certainly also be contributed to by the long-standing experience of the employees of Sberbank, whom I hereby welcome as new members of our banking family. I am sure that now, as a large and strong bank, we will continue the successful operations and the business synergy, which will primarily benefit our clients and business partners – emphasized Jelena Galic, the chairwoman of the Executive Board of AIK Banka.
