The Turkish company Teklas Automotive opened a factory in Vranje, where around 300 workers will work initially, and later, as claimed, 1,500.

The company employs around 1,200 workers in three car part production facilities in Vladicin Han, and in the factory in Vranje, it has employed the former workers of the Italian Geox, which has left Serbia.

The opening ceremony was attended by the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, who said that he was trying to convince the Turkish investor to also open factories in Trgoviste and Bujanovac as well.

He said that “the salaries in Teklas are anywhere from 50% to twice as big as they were in Geox”, which used to employ 1,200 people.

The German Haix and the Turkish Teklas have employed over 2,200 people – Vucic said.

The Turkish Teklas employs around 6,000 workers worldwide, and it exports to European countries and the USA.
