Numerous possibilities for cooperation between Serbia and Egypt are open, new jobs in agriculture, chemical industry, IT, agricultural mechanization, road infrastructure and logistics have been contracted, stated Marko Cadez, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, who led the business delegation of Serbia on a visit to Cairo.

Bilateral meetings with the most prominent Egyptian business people who operate in the sectors of the chemical industry, agriculture and farming mechanization, logistics and road infrastructure equipment, IT and tourism were organized.

While presenting the potential in cooperation with the Egyptian market, Cadez said that companies from Serbia were ready to take part in various forms of cooperation with partners from Egypt, especially in the field of investments in certain sectors of the economy, but also in designing a strategy for activities in third markets, which especially pertains to countries of Africa and the Middle East.

The representatives of the Egyptian business community emphasized a great interest in partnerships with Serbian companies from all sectors, and considering the all-encompassing plans of the Government of Egypt contained in “Vision 2030”, which entail a serious diversification of the Egyptian economy and the implementation of large infrastructural projects.

Cadez also met in Cairo with Tarek El Molla, the minister of petroleum and mineral resources of Egypt, with whom he talked about the possibilities of joint projects of the two economies in using phosphates in industry, considering that Egypt is one of the biggest producers of this mineral in the world.

Stanko Popovic, the president of Elixir Group, which was one of the companies in the Serbian business delegation, said that Egyptian partners had expressed a desire for cooperation and that the first contacts had been made and the points of common interest identified.

In 2021, the foreign trade between Serbia and Egypt amounted to USD 79.7 million, which shows that there’s considerable room for a further upgrade of the business relations of the two economies. Serbia mostly exports tobacco, arms industry products and tractors to Egypt, whereas it mostly imports chemical products, salt and fruit from Egypt.
