The Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad has gained the status of an institute of national importance, according to the decision of the Government of Serbia, as published in the Official Gazette.

In 2006, the institute was accredited as a research and development institute, and in 2007, it was renamed as the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops and has operated under that name since, according to the institute’s website.

In May 2018, the institute was accredited as an institute of national importance for the state, deservedly obtaining this status for its successful operations and top results implemented in agricultural practice during its 80 years of existence, for which reason it has also become a prominent name in science on a global level, according to their website.

The basic and applied research, which is the main activity of the institute, is directed at creating varieties and hybrids of crops, vegetables and a large number of animal feed, industrial, medicinal and spice plants.
