HALAL certificate for Mlekara Sabac dairy
Mlekara Sabac dairy has been presented with the Halal certificate by the Halal Certification Agency, which is one of the preconditions for export of products to the Muslim countries.
CEO of the Sabac-based dairy Zoran Matic said that that factory would dispatch the first shipment of Sabacka Feta cheese and Ala Kajmak cream to Libya, Azerbaijan and Egypt within the next two weeks.
- The Halal certificate is our ticket to the markets of Islamic countries. We are working at full steam and we count on 60 million euros worth of turnover in 2011, 40% of which should be the income from export - said Matic.
CEO of the Halal Certification Agency Mustafa Jusufspahic said that the market of the Muslim countries and the domestic market were not sufficiently used.
- There are over 52m Muslims in Europe and about 0.5m in Serbia, and that market is completely unused - said Jusufspahic.
According to his words, the Halal certificate represents a confirmation that the product is not harmful to health and that it does not contain alcohol or pork.
Jusufspahic stated that 34 Serbian manufacturers, mainly those producing confectioneries, yeast and oil, had obtained that certificate.
On behalf of the Islamic community of Serbia, he has signed the Protocol on Cooperation with Farmakom MB concern, a part of which is Mlekara Sabac dairy, in joint appearance in the markets of the Muslim countries and implementation of projects in Sandzak, Raska and the south of Serbia.
Mlekara Sabac dairy daily processes 210,000 liters of milk and exports half of the production to the markets of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Russia, Albania and Macedonia.
