The Secretariat for Urban Planning and Construction Affairs of the City of Belgrade has put the General Regulation Plan of traffic routes with parking spaces in 9 blocks in the central zone of New Belgrade, Phase 1, up for public review.
The plan was commissioned by the City Secretariat for Traffic and prepared by the Urban Planning Institute of Belgrade.
The aim of the preparation of the plan is to consider the possibility of increasing the number of parking spaces within the interblock traffic network on around 33.3 ha in the central zone of New Belgrade.
A total of around 6,500 parking spaces, existing and planned, are to be located in the following blocks:
Block 19a – between Vladimira Popovica St, Milutina Milankovica Blvd, Milentija Popovica St. and Arsenija Carnojevica Blvd;
Block 21 – between Milentija Popovica St, Zorana Djindjica Blvd, Antifasisticke Borbe St. and Mihajla Pupina Blvd;
Block 22 – between Milentija Popovica St, Arsenija Carnojevica Blvd, Antifasisticke Borbe St. and Zorana Djindjica Blvd;
Block 23 – between Milentija Popovica St, Milutina Milankovica Blvd, Antifasisticke Borbe St. and Arsenija Carnojevica Blvd;
Block 24 – between Antifasisticke Borbe St, Milutina Milankovica Blvd, Spanskih Boraca St. and Arsenija Carnojevica Blvd;

Block 30 – between Spanskih Boraca St, Zorana Djindjica Blvd, Umetnosti Blvd. and Mihajla Pupina Blvd.
It is said that, within the plan, devastated or neglected parking areas are present in several locations, whereas, in places, tree tops or roots are a risk to the parked vehicles.
As emphasized, all the streets are to keep their grade, and the plan only defines the regulations of the local street network with parking areas, as well as their cross-sections.
Also, it is added, within the borders of the plan, the implementation of a system of the management of requests for vehicle parking will be considered, as well as in the remaining territory of the blocks 21 and 22, which are not covered by this system and the space of the blocks 19a, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29 and 30.
The plan, which is up for public review until May 16, will also consider an additional increase of the parking spaces capacities.
