With a ceremony in Stolc near Kula, MK Group and Fintel Energija officially marked the beginning of the works on the construction of the wind farm Kula 2. The wind turbines of the latest technology are being built near the first wind farm in Serbia, Kula, which was also opened by these two companies back in 2015.

With an investment of EUR 17.5 million, the plan is for the works to be completed by the end of the year, and the wind farm should be put into operation in March 2023, the press release says.

The CEO of Fintel Energija, Tiziano Giovannetti, reminded that the company, together with MK Group, was a pioneer in the field of renewable energy sources and the most important independent producer of electrical energy in the energy market of Serbia.

– With three opened wind farms and a fourth one under construction, our joint investments in projects of green energy from wind so far amount to EUR 163 million. This way, we have secured 238 GWh of electricity a year for the needs of 59,000 households. We won’t stop there and we are already planning new ambitious projects, which will additionally position Serbia on the green map of this part of Europe – Giovannetti said.

The CEO of MK Group, Mihailo Jankovic, confirmed the further expansion in the field of renewable energy sources of both companies.

– Together, we are developing projects of wind farms and solar power plants in Serbia with a total planned capacity of nearly 1 GW, with investments of over EUR 1 billion in the next five years. This year alone, we started realizing projects which entail investments of EUR 360 million – Jankovic stated and emphasized the contribution of these investments to the realization of the goal of the Government of Serbia to increase the share of RES to at least 40% by 2040.

With a capacity of 10 MW, the wind farm Kula 2 will supply the Serbian power network with 28.6 GWh of electricity a year, which is equivalent to the energy used by around 8,000 households.

The partner of MK Group and Fintel Energija on this project is Erste Banka.
