- Citizens can count on having enough energy sources and they can be relaxed during the winter season. We have a guaranteed gas price and it will not change. The changes are not planned until the end of the winter season - said the state secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Jovanka Atanackovic. She made this statement at the TV show "Marker", merely a day after the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that, after talking to the Russian President Vladimir Putin, an agreement had been reached which would provide Serbia with a favorable purchase price for this Russian energy source, but still at a higher price than before.

Serbia and Russia will sign a new three-year agreement for the purchase of gas, whose price per cubic meter will cost 10 to 12 times less than in Europe, as per the official announcement made after the phone conversation between the two presidents. Based on that agreement, Serbia should procure 2.2 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia, out of the 3 billion it needs annually.

Atanackovic estimated that this is an extremely favorable arrangement for Serbia, that everyone should be satisfied with it, but that Serbia will have to buy an additional 800 million cubic meters of gas at the market price in order to satisfy its needs.
