From January 1 to the end of May, thanks to the Open Balkans initiative, the number of trucks traveling between Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia increased by 13%, the minister of agriculture, forestry and water management of Serbia, Branislav Nedimovic, stated in Ohrid.

He said for RTS that, in the preceding five months, since the implementation of the Open Balkans initiative started, 6,400 trucks had gone from Serbia to North Macedonia and Albania or arrived to Serbia from those countries.

– It shows that the Open Balkans initiative is already producing results – Nedimovic said.

He said that, of those five months, for two months the export of certain food products had not been allowed and estimated that the results would be even better otherwise.

The summit of the Open Balkans initiative, launched by Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania, ends today in Ohrid.
