Chinese company builds solar power plant in Kikinda
Secretary of the Secretariat for Energy and Mineral Raw Materials of the Government of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina Radoslav Strikovic signed yesterday in Kikinda a memorandum of cooperation with a representative of Chinese national company CND Corporation, which envisages the possibility of construction of a solar power plant in the municipality of Kikinda, with the capacity of up to 30 MW.
The Protocol on future cooperation was signed in the presence of the representatives of local self-government led by Mayor Ilija Vojinovic, Head of the administrative region of North Banat Vladimir Ilic, and the representatives of Elektrovojvodina - the Kikinda-based unit.
In a press release, Strikovic emphasized that the memorandum had been signed after three months of negotiations and joint work.
- All details will be regulated by special contracts and agreements, of which implementation should commence in early 2011. We expect the first solar power plant in Serbia to be built in Kikinda and I hope that this will be a good guideline for further development of the new energy sources - said Strikovic and pointed out that his cooperation with the local self-government was excellent, which was one of the reasons why the future solar power plant would be built in Kikinda. Besides, Kikinda has the largest number of sunny days in Serbia.
The power plant will, most likely, be built on a state-owned land and Kikinda has good predispositions for implementation of such project, it is announced on the website of Kikinda.
By the way, as Strikovic explained, the price of construction ranges between 2.5 and 3.5 million euros per megawatt. The equipment and technology should be provided by aforementioned Chinese company, which means that that company is the investor, while the municipality of Kikinda is to provide the land and the building permit.
