In the first four months of this year, an increase in the trade between Serbia and Germany of 25.7% compared to last year was recorded, and it is expected to amount to EUR 7.5 billion by the end of the year, said the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, following the meeting with the German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, who visited Serbia on Friday.

– This makes Germany by far the most important trade partner of Serbia – Vucic said and added that there were good investments conditions in Serbia and that, at that moment, German companies employed 77,000 people in Serbia.

He also said that Serbia recorded an export-import coverage ratio of 83.1%, primarily thanks to German companies which operated in Serbia and which exported the most to Germany.

According to him, each year, there is a survey among companies in the region about whether they would invest in the countries they’ve come to again, and as many as 90% of German companies have stated that they would come to Serbia again, considering their experience so far.

The president estimated that Scholz “brought new hope for everyone in the Western Balkans regarding EU enlargement”, as reported on the Government of Serbia’s website.

He added that he expected a great progress of Serbia and the Western Balkans countries on their European path in the next year.

Vucic also said that Scholz had offered Germany’s help in finding a solution to the crisis in the sense of building energy capacities which would connect the country with the rest of the region, thereby providing it with various ways of diversification.

The chancellor said that the economic relations of the two countries were developing well and expressed his conviction that the trend of growth of the number of the jobs that German companies created in Serbia would continue.
