The chambers of commerce of Serbia and Cuba will cooperate more intensively on upgrading the economic cooperation between the two countries and a higher utilization of the possibility for the strengthening of the economic relations – as confirmed by the signing of the Action Plan for 2022-2023 between the two business associations, which contains concrete activities of chambers directed at supporting companies in connecting and contracting new jobs.

The Action Plan for 2022-2023 was signed within the webinar “Serbia-Cuba: Business Opportunities”, and the director of the Sector for Internationalization of the CCIS, Mihailo Vesovic, pointed out that, despite the geographic distance between Cuba and Serbia, there is still a great interest for the cooperation of the two countries’ economies, according to the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.

– The interest for cooperation with Cuba is not dropping. The strategic goal of the Cuban economy of reducing the dependence on the import of finished products is an opportunity for Serbian companies to offer their technologies for the development of production to the Cuban economy – said Vesovic and added that Cuban companies would take part in the Novi Sad Fair 2023, which would contribute to the strengthening of the economic cooperation with Serbian companies, but also companies from the Western Balkans region.

Belkis Barnet Izquierdo of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba said that the priority of the Cuban economy was to attract investments and develop internationalization, especially in the sectors of tourism and agriculture and mining.

Cuba, with a market of over eleven million consumers, is a promising economy of the Caribbean region, whose main industries are agriculture, mining, energy, biotechnology and tourism. Considering the wide range of products and services that local companies could offer to the Cuban market, special attention was paid at the webinar to the potentials of the Cuban market. At the same time, the Cuban government has taken concrete measures in the past period to the end of internationalizing its economy and attracting investments.

The Havana International Fair (FIHAV) was presented at the webinar. This is a multi-sector fair which will be held this year from November 14 to 18 and which will gather representatives of a wide range of sectors, such as the agricultural-food sector, textile sector, construction sector and others. FIHAV is the most important fair of the Caribbean region.
