– Because it is expensive in the international market, because of the energy crisis, but also because of the state’s charges. The charges are such that, if you are buying fuel, you are the easiest prey as somebody who finances the budget and you can pay more or less to the budget, which is always empty or half-empty. The easiest thing is to obtain money through that price of Eurodiesel, which is popular, because there are plenty of vehicles. Perhaps to us it looks unfair, but it doesn’t bother the authorities too much – professor Djukic said for N1.
He says that the excise taxes could be lower, but the question then is at what price.
– Then somebody would want to increase the charges elsewhere. And the sources are growing scarcer, because we will not have the kind of growth that was counted on, we will have no inflow of foreign investments, there’s a recession in the world – he added.
When asked why the price of diesel fuel is so high, he says that, in the market, you don’t only get the cost prices.
– The market price is the one at which you offer something, and the purchaser is ready to pay it. There are purchasers who are ready to pay that price. Now, as the costs show, it’s a calculation of the producers, which form the market offer – he explained.
The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said at a media conference, that, from November 1, Serbia will be left without Russian oil.
– Everybody is writing about how we are going to be left without Russian oil, which is a wrong way of looking at things. When we buy oil, it is our oil. Oil is offered in the international market. There’s a disturbance if there are no well-established channels of offer and demand. I rely on one thing, for the market to always find ways to meet the demand. The market is a living mechanism which functions regardless of the wars and crises. I am optimistic, regardless of the fact that there will also be difficulties with gas supply, power, coal, I believe that things will even out, just like they did when we had an oil embargo that lasted 7 to 8 years – Djukic concluded.
