The company CMA CGM offers a new service, which will enable the transport of goods by an intermodal train on the Nis-Thessaloniki route. The first weekly intermodal train arrived to the MBOX terminal in Nis last weekend and the containers have already been delivered to the clients in Serbia.

The load-bearing capacity is 50 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) per tour, with a transition time of two and a half days. The train leaves Nis on a Monday and arrives to Thessaloniki on a Thursday, leaves Thessaloniki on a Thursday and arrives to Nis on a Saturday.

According to the company, they are the first in the market to open the long forgotten historical corridor between Thessaloniki and Serbia. After connecting with the port of Thessaloniki, Nis has access to other intermodal terminals and ports. It takes 40 days to transport goods from Shanghai to Nis, 35 days from Bangkok, 29 days from Singapore and 7 days from Izmir, says CMA CGM.
