The minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, Tomislav Momirovic, has opened the premises of the Port Authority Backa Palanka, the first such institution opened by the competent ministry after 18 years.

While visiting the port and the water traffic border crossing, Momirovic pointed out that the opening of this port authority would mean a lot to the citizens of Backa Palanka and its area, because they would no longer have to go to Novi Sad or Apatin to register their boats, obtain or extend the permits or finish any other administrative procedure that concerns navigation on the Danube, the ministry announced.

– The Danube is now the main artery of the entire Europe, and Serbia is the only country which guarantees and secures navigability along its entire flow. We have invested a lot in the past years, mostly with the support of European partners, and in the past six months, we have made additional efforts to enable the navigability of the Danube under all circumstances – he said.
