The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Serbia have signed an agreement under which Belgrade will get USD 1 billion under extremely favorable conditions, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Vucic, who is on a two-day visit to the UAE, said for TV Pink that, according to the agreement, Serbia was to get USD 1 billion “under incredible conditions” and assessed that it was “practically a gift”.

– As soon as January, our old loans are due and we have to repay them, we are now securing full liquidity along with the solvency we have – he said.

He added that it was great help and that a lot of money was saved that way.

Vucic, who is on a visit to the UAE at the invitation of the country’s president, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reminded of the excellent relations between the two countries and thanked the UAE for the support.

According to him, whenever things are difficult, Serbia can rely on the UAE.
