First InterConnect Business Executive Summit Gathers Companies with Total Annual Turnover of Over EUR 50 Billion

Belgrade was the center of world business yesterday (September 28, 2022), gathering representatives of big business systems of the Western Balkans and top managers of the most famous world companies. We are here to seek innovative and creative solutions for the future which is very uncertain and unpredictable, said Marko Cadez, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS) at the opening of the first InterConnect Business Executive Summit.

The gathering in Belgrade brought together representatives of multinational companies whose total annual turnover exceeds EUR 50 billion and nearly 200 companies from the Western Balkans, which export to 124 markets of the world, it is said on the website of the CCIS. During the two days of the summit, there will be talk about global business challenges, digitization and including Serbian companies in global supply chain.

– This event is not just an event about purchase and sales, but also about how to be creative in finding answers to global challenges, connecting companies and learning something new – said Cadez.

According to him, the times are such that we don’t know what we can expect from the global crisis, which requires a new approach.

– All of you who are here create innovations and the future in various field. Our goal is to hear what prominent people have to say to together find solutions to the challenges ahead of us – Cadez emphasizes.

Managers of the companies Thyssenkrupp Automotive, INEOS, L’Oréal, Zentis, OSCE, Celonis and many others are taking part in the fair.

One of the organizers of the gathering, an executive at Mercuri Urval, Matthias Loidold, estimates that Serbia and the Western Balkans are excellent places for investments, especially nearshoring.

Ferdinand Wieland, CPO & SVP Procurement & Supply Chain at Thyssenkrupp Automotive, said that the Western Balkans was a region with big possibilities for companies from the automotive industry which can move part of the production from far-away destinations here.


– We see InterConnect as a big opportunity for connecting with companies from this region – Wieland says.

Yasar Hanli, Director Digital, L'Oréal, points out that there are big opportunities for exchanging knowledge and experiences in the field of business digitization and that this summit is the right place for it.

For two days, the participants of the InterConnect Executive Summit will have the opportunity to make business connections with partners through a B2B platform, take part in workshops and hear opinions and advice from experts in digital transformation and supply chain management.

The summit is organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, the Western Balkans Chamber Investment Forum (WB6 CIF) and the company Convenstenics. Companies from various sectors, from IT, automotive, metalworking, electrical and food industries, are taking part in the gathering.
