Investment fund “Salford“ wants to buy dairy in Karlovac
British Investment Fund Salford, which operates in Belgrade, according to the Croatian press, intends to buy the dairy in Karlovac, in Croatia. It is expected that the Privatization Fund of Republic of Croatia will soon announce open competition for sale of Karlovac’s Dairy Industry, and Salford is mentioned as the most interested buyer. Other interested companies are Lura, Danone, Stanić and German company Zott.
Salford has already bought five Serbian dairies, one dairy in Macedonia and one dairy in Banja Luka. Croatian press also writes that that investment fund owns 65% of dairies in Serbia, that it is the biggest investment company in Serbia and Montenegro and that "there is no limit to amount of required money Salford Fund is ready to invest in procurement of Karlovac’s Dairy Industry.
It is also pointed out that the former manager of Karlovac’s Dairy Industry until 1991, Dragica Bolić, who led the dairy in its best years, now works for that fund as a councillor. Zagreb’s press writes that Karlovac’s interest in sale of the dairy is big, which is completely normal, because few thousands of agricultural households live from the production of milk. It is added that interest is even bigger with the announcement of the possibility that, if Salford buys the Karlovac Dairy Industry, the personnel from Belgrade will come to manage Karlovac-based dairy.
