Turkish Company Doku-San Otomotiv New Foreign Investor in Municipality of Svilajnac

The Turkish company Doku-San Otomotiv is the new foreign investor in the municipality of Svilajnac, the fourth one this year and the seventh in less than two years. This company signed an agreement with the Municipality of Svilajnac on the purchase of close to two hectares of land in the new business zone, where, in the next two years, it will build a factory and commence production activities.

The company processes metal, works for the automotive industry and this is their first investment outside Turkey.

The president of the Municipality of Svilajnac, Predrag Milanovic, said that the municipality had managed to turn itself into a regional leader when it comes to the economy:

– This is another export-oriented company, which is important not just for Svilajnac, but also for Serbia. In the first eight months of this year, the municipality of Svilajnac records an external trade surplus of nearly USD 12 million, whereas the external trade amounts to USD 108 million. Fourteen years ago, when we started building industrial zones and attracting investors, we had a deficit, and the external trade has grown nearly three times since then. We now have foreign companies asking to come to Svilajnac and recognizing it as an ideal place to invest in – Milanovic stated.
