At the conference “Biotech Future Forum 2022”, organized at the Palace of Serbia, the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Serbia (C4IR Serbia), founded as a partnership between the Government of Serbia and the World Economic Forum, was officially launched today.

With 16 centers across the network, C4IR Serbia is the first to lead on biotechnology and artificial intelligence for healthcare.

– I hope that this is just the beginning for us, and the first step for Serbia to position itself among the leaders in the field of biotechnology in Europe. Science, innovation, technology, and creativity are our strengths, and thanks to this, Serbia has transformed in the last 10 years – stated the prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic.

Biotechnology is crucial to upgrading solutions in fields such as medicine, agriculture and the food industry. The growing investments and the technological progress have accelerated the development and the possibilities of the implementation of biotechnology, which will shape the world even more in the future, as reported on the website of the Government of Serbia.

The conference gathered the three sectors of society that have the greatest effect on the development of biotechnology – the public and private sectors and the academic community, to the end of inciting cooperation and exchange of knowledge and experiences.

Brnabic emphasized that biotechnology, biomedicine, bioinformatics, and biodiversity would be among the most important priorities of the new Government and the focus of the work of the BIO4 Campus.

Addressing the conference participants, Borge Brende, the president of the World Economic Forum said that, with the establishment of the center in Belgrade for the Fourth Industrial Revolution earlier that year, the World Economic Forum and the Government of Serbia had committed to supporting the accelerated adoption of emerging technologies in Serbia.
