Education of experts for metal industry - Excellence Center for Welding Technologies and Materials Science to be formed soon

Implementation of the project of establishment of the Excellence Center for Welding Technologies, Materials Science and Engineering Software Application, of which budget is EUR 890,000, started yesterday and should be finished in 2014. The project has been backed by the EU through RDEPR2 programme. The project holder is Gosa Institute, while its partners are the Technology University-Trondheim from Norway, RRA Pozarevac, the Belgrade University, Jozef Stefan Institute-Ljubljana, the National Institute VUZ-Bratislava, the National Institute ISIM-Timisoara, and the SCC (the Association for Metal and Electric Industry and the Board for Technological Innovations).

The Center will help the industrial sector to make a progress by developing new technologies, while a special value lies in education of experts for the metal industry. What will also be achieved is promotion of technology and quality of products, optimization of production, economic efficiency, and application of innovations in the metal industry.

The project users are companies from the Podunavlje region and other parts of Serbia, while target groups are manufacturers of heavy machinery and metal structures, shipyards, companies within the EPS, and railway and road transportation companies. For their needs, the following people will be educated at the Center: managers for innovations, engineers for use of various engineering software solutions, engineers for welding, and welders for new procedures (ultrasound welding and plastics).
