German Company Koepfer Opens New Facility in Smederevo – Investments Worth Over EUR 30 Million Planned

A new facility of the German company Koepfer, a leading world producer of precision motor gears and gearbox elements, as well as complete assemblies, has opened in Smederevo.

– Three years ago, Koepfer started producing here in a small, rented factory, and today, it is officially moving into its own building with 2,600 m2, from which the most modern and technologically advanced components will be exported for companies such as Daimler, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi and Opel – the minister of economy of Serbia, Andjelka Atanaskovic, said on that occasion.

Atanaskovic reminded that the value of the investment of this company in the first phase was EUR 10 million, the ministry’s website reports.

– Koepfer has not applied for any incentives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and it is a pure greenfield project. The company will grow to 10,400 m2 in Smederevo, and the investment plan is over EUR 30 million. At the end of the investment cycle and the construction of the entire factory, 250 people will work here – Atanaskovic concluded and thanked CEO Thomas Koepfer and CFO Thomas Kampmann for enriching the event with their presence.
