Hungarian Doctors Learning How to Implant Artificial Heart at “Dedinje” Institute

The Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases “Dedinje”, to which the renowned American company SynCardia, as the only world producers of artificial hearts, has given the great honor of being the Center of Excellence where heart surgeons from the world will be educated for that type of implanting, has new “students”. In the past days, the implanting of artificial hearts has been studied by a six-member team of heart surgeons, anesthesiologists and perfusers from Hungary.

The leader of the team from Budapest is professor Dr Istvan Hartyanszky, the president of the Hungarian Transplant Association and the president of the Hungarian Association of Heart Surgeons. The team led by professor Hartyanszky comes from the Heart and Blood Vessel Institute “Semmelweis” at the University of Budapest.

Having recognized the quality of the operations of the Center for Heart Diseases of the “Dedinje” Institute, where over 15 artificial hearts have been implanted so far, SynCardia chose this institute as the leading training center in the world, where a team of doctors from the National Guard Hospital in Riyadh (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) has already been educated for the implanting of artificial hearts, and the arrival of about a dozen medical teams from various parts of the world has already been announced.
