The Secretariat for Public Transport of the City of Belgrade has terminated the process of the public-private partnership for the implementation of river transport, which was supposed to cost the city nearly EUR 50 million, writes the Danas portal. The explanation of this decision cites the global crisis, the disturbance in the energy market and the energy price increase as the reasons, considering the available budget funds.

This procedure was launched following the adoption of the decision of the City Assembly on April 1 last year saying that it is necessary to implement river transport within the public transport system in the city, as well as for the purposes of strengthening the tourist offer of Belgrade.

The company Beo Reka submitted the project proposition, and the City Assembly adopted it, Danas writes.

In March, the contest was carried out and the Secretariat for Public Transport awarded the contract to this company, but the City abandoned the project before the agreement could be signed.
