Gosa Factory in Smederevska Palanka Starts Producing Rail Cars

For the first time in Serbia, at the factory of rail vehicles Gosa in Smederevska Palanka, a prototype of an intermodular rail car for the transport of containers of various dimensions and purposes, which is one of the most demanded types of cargo rail cars not just in Europe, but in the world too, has been designed and produced.

The rail car, whose serial production has already started, is built in line with the strictest international standards, and they are especially proud at Gosa, because the whole job was done through local effort.

It took a year for Gosa’s expert, relying on their own knowledge and experience, to make the prototype and get the license for serial production, the Novosti website reports.

– For us, Gosa is the Phoenix of the Serbian economy – says the general manager of FSV Gosa, Sasa Stanisavljevic.

– After five years, from being a factory in bankruptcy, practically from scratch, with a limited number of people, we have reached the phase where we can make a new rail car for local and European railways. That’s a great success for us, and in the future, in addition to the factory, Smederevska Palanka will benefit as well, through having its economy revived and new jobs created – says the manager of Gosa.

This is the first time that a local company has produced a rail car of this type, which is increasingly demanded in the market, because the transport of large amounts of cargo is increasingly moving from road corridors to railways.

As the general manager of FZV Zelvoz, Svetozar Bugarin, who invested all his knowledge and effort in project supervision, says, the rail car is made from local materials tested in line with the international regulations and tried out under practical exploitation conditions.

– Another exclusive feature is that both the rail car and the production line were fully built through local know-how and power. From the designing phase, through testing, to production, it was all local companies, except for the company which certified the rail car – he says.

Although serial production has only just been announced, at Gosa they say that the rail car prototype has caused a great interest from foreigners at the recently held fair in Berlin, where the Gosa – Zelvoz system had a stand and got great grades, Novosti reports.
