Cadez: Battery Producers from Asia Interested in Serbia

The interest of Asian battery producers in Serbia as an investment destination is there, but that opportunity would be best used if Serbia were part of the single European market, stated the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS), Marko Cadez.

– The state and the CCIS are working hard to get included in this new investment cycle in the production of electric vehicles – he added.

Cadez said in an interview for the Politika daily that the confrontation regarding the excavation of lithium, among others, in companies such as Rio Tinto, had raised awareness that they needed to be transparent and introduce new technologies.

He pointed out that the opening of a battery factory in Serbia was not conditioned on the opening of a lithium mine.

– Hungary has no lithium or cobalt, but a megafactory still opened there – Cadez said.
