Hotel Holiday Inn Express to Be Built in Subotica – Investment Worth EUR 15 to 20 Million

The agreement between the Subotica-based company SBM Gradnja and the famous world hotel company InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) was signed in Subotica on the construction of Hotel Holiday Inn Express Subotica. The agreement was signed on behalf of the investor SMB Gradnja by the company’s director Predrag Petricevic, and on behalf of IHG, the development manager for the Balkans, Zivorad Vasic.

The signing of the agreement, in the Green Room of the City Hall, was also attended by the mayor of Subotica, Stevan Bakic, with his associates, to whom director Vasic presented this investment, worth, as said, EUR 15 to 20 million, according to the website of the City of Belgrade.

– The City of Subotica will get a hotel of the prestigious international brand, which will be called Holiday Inn Express Subotica. That will be the third hotel of this brand in Serbia, after Belgrade and Kragujevac. A hotel will be built which will spread on 4,000 m2, and it will have 102 accommodation units, as well as all other necessary features that this brand requires. The hotel will be built in the very center of the city, near the Open University, in the location which is currently empty and quite dilapidated, and after it opens, that image will change completely – emphasized mayor Bakic.

He pointed out that, for years, Subotica had been recording a growth of tourist traffic and that it had been recognized as a “city break” destination, but also a destination ideal for business people and congress tourism.

– I believe that the new jobs, the floor are this large, the new wedding hall, for foreigners, for taxis, restaurants, will be a fantastic thing for Subotica. Within two years, we will have a great hotel which will enrich this wonderful city. It was certainly not easy bringing IHG to Subotica. Depending on the price of steel and construction material, at the moment, the plan is to invest EUR 15 to 20 million in the construction of this four-star hotel – Zivorad Vasic concluded.
