Vucic said that he was not delighted with the proposition of the Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP) for Belgrade to impose sanctions against Russia, but that he didn’t know how long the country could afford not to impose such measures.
– You say that you are in favor of the sanctions, I say that I’m not sure, we may have to. As long as we have the option of not having to, it’s better than having to. If nothing else, that same Russia helped us in 2015. It didn’t help us in 2003 when it was withdrawing, it didn’t help us in 1992 either, it’s all true and I am aware of that. But you should sometimes remember the good things, not just the bad ones – Vucic said during a discussion with the head of the parliamentary group Ujedinjeni, Marinika Tepic.
– Yes, we are paying the price for not having imposed sanctions against the Russian Federation. And we are paying the price which is much higher than what’s visible, but that is a matter of the political orientation of our governance. If you asked some people to calculate this for you, they might, and the price is not low at all. But it is a result of independent decision-making. Now, we can discuss whether it is necessary this way or another, but that is the topic – he said.
