This is confirmed by a new investment in central Serbia, in Lapovo, in the as-of-yet biggest solar power plant in the state, Delasol, in which EUR 8.9 million was invested and which, according to the director of the companies Delasol and MT-Komex, Milos Kostic, will start delivering electrical energy in March.
– The area of the land is 12.5 hectares and 17,980 solar panels of the latest generation will be installed on that area. The capacity of the power plant as an installed power amounts to 11.7 MW, and the power of the connection to the distribution network is 9.9 MW. When we translate this into how much electrical energy the power plant will produce annually, it will be sufficient for the supply of 2,100 houses locally, for the whole year of their consumption – Kostic said.
He also pointed out that insolation in Serbia was 30-40% higher than in Germany, a country considered one of the European leaders in the production of energy from solar sources. He therefore believes that the potentials for the construction of solar capacities in Serbia are nowhere close to being fully utilized.
– Our plan is to build another four power plants in the next two years. One of them, with 10 new megawatts, will be located in the same location in Lapovo, on the neighboring parcel. Another two power plants, which are in development, will be located in Vojvodina, and the final one we plan to build, as our own investment, will be located in Vranje – he pointed out.
The aim of the Republic of Serbia is to have at least 40% of energy produced from renewable sources by 2040. At the same time, experts estimate that Serbia should have at least 5 GW from renewable sources by 2030.
– Currently, according to the information available to us, within the solar power plant sector, on industrial companies and on land, there’s around 80-90 MW installed – says Kostic.
Serbia is striving for a transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources, so, among other things, it has simplified the procedure for the installation of solar panels and promoted the institution of a producer-consumer, that is, prosumer.
In the past few months, households and companies have installed around 360 rooftop photovoltaic power plants, with a total power of 5.7 MW, and according to the announcements from the Ministry of Mining and Energy, power plants of 100 MW are in procedure, says the China Media Group (CMG).
