Kikinda Presents Plan for Passenger Airport with Runway 1,200 Meters Long

The City of Kikinda has put up for early public inspection the detailed regulation plan of the airport of the City of Kikinda.

According to the plan, which was prepared by the Urban Planning Institute of Vojvodina and commissioned by the City, the airport is to be built southwest of Kikinda, right next to the IB-grade state road no. 13, on the route toward Basaid.

The existing Kikinda airport (Drakslerov Salas), it is added, is of sports and agricultural character and, with its grass runway and technical characteristics, does not meet the conditions for civilian passenger traffic.

– For that reason, the construction of a modern airport, which would meet the conditions for passenger traffic, is planned. The dimensions of the airport will be suited to its planned capacity and purpose – the document says.

It is specified that the plan entails the equipping of a modern air terminal, an orientation area of the complex of 10.51 ha, with a runway around 1,200 meters long and 30 meters wide.

Technical documentation, at the level of the preliminary design and the main design, has been prepared for the airport complex.

The space of the future airport covers an area of around 54.24 ha, and the parcels (except for the ones on which the existing sports airport is located) are currently used as arable agricultural land and are envisaged for agricultural production by the Spatial Plan of Kikinda.

The plan is up for early public inspection until March 16.
