Belgrade, in 4 years, traffic lights to turn to green for public transportation vehicles?

Preparation for introduction of new central system for traffic management will be the main task of Secretariat for Transportation in 2005.

In 4 years, traffic jams in the city will be only bad memory. By means of modern management, traffic lights would turn to green for public transportation vehicles, as well as on junctions with jams.

Registration of the companies that could be able to create such system is underway. Prior to the end of 2005, the public will know who the project designer is. The works will commence at the beginning of 2006. According to the first estimates, the value of the work is about €6m. The finances will be provided from the credit approved by European Investment Bank.

One of the possibilities for functioning of this system is installation of chips into all public transportation vehicles and the signal they emit would be sent to the main monitor. The second option is installation of radar system on the poles along city transportation routes. The most expensive solution would be installation of antennas along routes of all public transportation vehicles.
