Representatives of Russian companies Santos and Nereida negotiate on investment in agricultural sector in Sabac

Representatives of two Russian companies engaged in the production, processing and sale of fruits and vegetables - Santos and Nereida from the city of Kazany, the capital of the republic of Tatarstan, are staying in Sabac. They yesterday spoke with Sabac Mayor Milos Milosevic about the possibilities of investing in the Sabac area and entering into a cooperation with related companies, and that meeting in the City Hall was also attended by City Council members Slobodan Nikolic and Petar Loncar, as well as representatives of local companies Libertas, ABD–prom and ULO fruit.

Speaking about economic potentials, Mayor Milosevic presented Sabac as the center of the region famous for an intensive agricultural production capable of creating surpluses, thus enabling export to Russia and European countries.

- In the area of Russian Federation that our guests come from, the ripening period of fruits and vegetables lasts for only three months. Over the remaining nine months, these products are being imported. Having in mind that Kazany is a city with 1.5 million citizens, this is an excellent opportunity for us to introduce the businessmen from Russia to Sabac-based companies that produce, process and purchase fruits and vegetables and try to export our products to the large market of Russia - the mayor of Sabac stated.

According to the words of Slobodan Nikolic, companies Santos and Nereida own large markets where citizens, grocery stores and restaurants buy supplies.

- They are now focused on the purchase of fruits and vegetables in Serbia, but they are also interested in investing, primarily in apple orchards. Since the City owns an agricultural land, we should soon talk about the rental of that land. Local agricultural manufacturer would also benefit from this because the purchase of market surpluses would be certain - Mr. Nikolic stressed.

Sergey Sergeyevich Dobralyinski, a representative of Santos, was satisfied with the talks and he invited manufacturers from Serbia to visit Kazany and get familiar with production capacities in that region. As he assessed, a cooperation would definitely be justified.

Ivan Zunic, the director of Sabac-based company Libertas, is of the same opinion.

- It is a very demanding market that is extremely important to us. I am sure that we are able to respond to even the most complicated requests of our Russian partners - Mr. Zunic pointed out.
