Based on the change of the legal form from a public enterprise into a joint-stock company, a total of 36,510,509 shares of EPS, with a nominal value of RSD 10,000, have been registered at the Central Securities Depository.
Based on that, the value of EPS is RSD 365.1 billion, that is, around EUR 3.1 billion.
The shares are owned by the state.
Several hundred citizens and workers of the company gathered yesterday at 6 PM to express their dissatisfaction with the transformation of EPS into a JSC. They requested the decision to be annulled and the stopping of EPS’ shift from a public enterprise into a joint-stock company, and they gave a period of seven days to the Ministry of Mining and Energy and the Government of Serbia to make that decision.
One of the initiators, Goran Pesic, said that the transformation of EPS into a JSC enabled the first step toward privatization. He emphasized that EPS needed to remain both the producer and the trader of electricity and that the workers of Kolubara would lose their jobs, while the electricity bills would be even higher.
He said that the workers had not been informed about the events at the company and that there had not been a public discussion about the transformation of EPS.
