Belgrade will host the world’s biggest gathering dedicated to the rail sector – the 10th International Conference on Railway Operations Modelling and Analysis (ICROMA), which will be held from April 25 through 28 this year. The organizers of the event called “RailBelgrade 2023” are the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering at the University of Belgrade and the International Association of Railway Operations Research (IAROR).

This event will gather the biggest world experts dedicated to the development of railroads and incite interdisciplinary discussions in the fields of rail planning and operations, the faculty says in a press release.

The event will give researchers, consultants, and industrial practitioners the opportunity to meet, present their latest research, exchange know-how, and discuss current developments and applications. Leading railway scientists from different disciplines and professionals from the railway industry will deliver keynote speeches, presenting the latest findings related to rail traffic and providing guidelines for the future development of this field.

– By entrusting Belgrade with the organization of this conference, the city has been given great honor, because it has been included in the small group of world cities that have had the opportunity to gather, in one place, such important names from the world of railroads. It is of great importance for Serbia to be on the global map of the science-research and expert community dedicated to rail development, especially in the context of the fact that rail transport is experiencing a new flourishing in our country, regaining the significance and the role it has in most countries of the world – says professor Dr. Nebojsa Bojovic, the dean of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering.

Over 200 experts and scientists from over 20 countries will speak at the conference, and representatives of over 50 universities and science institutes will take part in the gathering.
