Third Time’s the Charm for Construction of Underpasses in Umetnosti Blvd in New Belgrade – New Job Price Two and a Half Times Higher Than Previous One

The Belgrade Land Development Public Agency has opened the tender for the preparation of the technical documentation and the execution of the works on the de-leveled crossing of the Belgrade-Batajnica-Sid (Subotica) railroad and Umetnosti Blvd in New Belgrade.

This is the underpass that will connect Umetnosti Blvd and Crvene Armije Blvd, whereby, as said at the end of last year by mayor Aleksandar Sapic while announcing this tender, the third tender for this project, the traffic flow in Omladinskih Brigada and Jurija Gagarina streets will be lowered.

According to the most recent tender, the plan is to build a traffic route through the existing embankment of the railroad in order to connect the existing traffic routes on the left and right sides of the railroad through the construction of an underpass.

– Said underpass is located through the existing embankment of the Belgrade-Batajnica-Sid railroad, with the aim of connecting the traffic routes on the left and right sides of the railroad. The railroad is located on the embankment, and beneath it, on the terrain level, the plan is to build a traffic route. The existing main railroad has two tracks, and the underpass needs be designed for four-track traffic, so as to leave room for the construction of another lane on each side of the existing ones – the tendering documentation says.

The length of the planned traffic route is 100 meters, and the entire design in terms of the position and the level is conditioned on the fitting in with the existing streets (Umetnosti Blvd, Internal Main Semi-Ring UMP and Dr Agostina Neta Street). The height of the free traffic profile will amount to at least 4.75 m.

– The traffic route will have three lanes for continual driving in each direction, of which the lane next to the median strep, from the direction of Umetnosti Blvd in the zone of the intersection of UMP, will be turned into a left-turning lane. On both sides of the driving lanes, an edge strip 2.50 meters wide and a sidewalk with a total width of 4.50 meters, which contains a bicycle lane and, next to it, a pedestrian lane with a minimum width of 2.50 meters should be planned – says the technical specification of the job, which is now estimated at RSD 825.8 million, which is around two and a half times more than the price at the previous tender.

The total deadline for the preparation of technical documentation, as pointed out, amounts to 60 days from the day of the possession of the site at the most, and cannot be extended. If this deadline is not complied with, the agreement will be terminated.

A deadline of a maximum of 450 days from the possession of the site is provided for the execution of the works.

The tender is open until May 26.
