Austrian side wants VIP and MTS to merge - Negotiations between government and Telekom Austria still at standstill
As Blic daily paper learns from an unofficial source, the proposal of the Austrian side in the extended negotiations is that the price for shares remains the same - EUR 950 million, and that the investments of EUR 450 million be provided from their own sources instead of the revenues of Telekom Srbija, which was the initial offer. The first reactions of the Serbian government are not good so that the option that the company from Austria accepts the price of 1.4 billion euros for shares and pay the remaining EUR 450 million in installments over next few years is still in the game. As we learn, none of aforementioned options has been ruled out yet and the government, which experiences huge problems with the holes in the budget, would gladly make concessions, but it does not know how to justify them to the public.
On the other hand, the solution related to the decision made by the Antitrust Commission on the concentration of capital is already visible.
- The most desirable solution for Austrians - the merger of VIP and MTS, is not possible because VIP would have to return the third license for mobile telephony - RATEL recently answered the queries of the Serbian government and Telekom Austria. According to the unofficial source of Blic, RATEL also shared that information with Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic.
