The minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, said that order would finally be instilled in the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport regarding taxi drivers.

– This is certainly the first day after around ten years that there’s no chaos with the taxi drivers at the airport, because all the services that need to be present are present there – Vesic said.

He said that, several days before, two meetings had been held with representatives of the airport, attended by representatives of the competent ministry, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the City of Belgrade with the Municipal Police and the Traffic Inspection.

– We all together agreed how each one was to carry out their duties. An operating team has been formed which will file reports twice a week directly to the director of the airport, the minister of internal affairs and me and we are thereby synchronizing all activities, so we will finally instill order at the Belgrade Airport when it comes to taxi drivers, the way it exists in other airports – Vesic said on TV Prva.

As he pointed out, this means that the price of a taxi ride and the order of the taxis will be known, avoiding “jumping the line”.

– As for the gang that steals at the airport, by which I mean the group that consists of those who are not regular taxi drivers and who charge incredible sums to people, they were driven away this morning. I know they’re hoping to return soon, that this will only last for a few days, but my message to them is that it will not and that they should get used to the fact that this is how it will be from now on and to become normal taxi drivers like everybody else and to work in line with the law, as they should – Vesic added.
