Kulic said that it was a great day for the municipality, since it was the arrival of the first investor after more than 30 years, which “gives people the hope that they can stay here and solve their livelihoods.”
– In the future, we will continue attracting other investors, so that they would come and invest here – Kulic said for the Beta news agency.
Marjan Djordjevic, the owner of Rumaplast, a company which produces plastic water and sewer pipes, said that they had decided to invest in Medvedja because he believed that Serbia should be defended there.
– We will launch a syringe factory, we will upgrade some other new technologies and we hope to employ a slightly bigger number of workers next year. I believe that others will follow our example as well, so as to keep people in this area – Djordjevic said.
The former syringe factory was first owned by the “Zdravlje” factory from Leskovac, and it was then sold to “Spektar” from Cacak, after which the local self-government bought it out of the bankruptcy estate in 2019 for RSD 5.9 million, with the intention of bringing the investor to the municipality.
According to the most recent census, the one from 2022, there are 6,360 residents in the municipality of Medvedja.
