This is the east-Mediterranean corridor Serbia-North Macedonia Rail Interconnection, Nis-Presevo-state border section, which is realized with the EU grants. The railroad between Nis and the North Macedonian border is around 133 km long.
The services will be split into three sections: Brestovac – Grdelica (cca 34 km), Grdelica – Vladicin Han (cca 32 km), Vladicin Han – state border with North Macedonia (Tabanovce) (cca 67 km).
The works will encompass the surveying of the location and the establishment of test boreholes, sampling and other exploration works, laboratory tests and the preparation of geotechnical studies in line with the local legislative.
Bids may be submitted by June 27, 2023, and more details can be found HERE.
Let us remind that, in April 2021, the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announced that, Serbia, in cooperation with the European Union, would build a fast railroad from Belgrade to Nis and from Nis to North Macedonia. He emphasized that Serbia would get at least 35% in grants from the EU for that project and that the grants could even go up to 50%, considering that it was part of the ecological, green agenda.
